We are looking for 2x Cooks to join our Indian restaurant in Christchurch. You guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week with competitive rates between $25.00 and $30p/h depending on your skills.

What you will be doing day-to-day:

  • examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • preparing and cooking food
  • seasoning food during cooking
  • portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • may plan menus and estimate food requirements
  • may train other kitchen staff and apprentices

 

Essential skills and attributes required:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced restaurant or a minimum of level 3 qualification in cookery or hospitality, or other relevant area
  • Personal pride in presentation and professionalism
  • Willingness to learn and be upward moving is essential
  • Excellent cookery skills
  • Naturally enjoys being around people and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Efficient, accurate and a strong appreciation for following systems
  • Consistent performance no matter the pressure from guests, team and outside influences
  • Must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays
