We are a locally owned and operated Motel & Holiday Park situated in Kaikoura. We are currently seeking a reliable, full-time, and permanent Sales and Marketing Park Manager to lead the sales and marketing efforts of our motel and holiday park. This is a hands-on role that will drive occupancy, boost revenue, and enhance the reputation of our property both online and offline.
Minimum 30hrs/week. Hourly pay from $25- $35.
Position Purpose
The Market Manager is responsible for the marketing, sales, and revenue performance of the motel and holiday park. This role focuses on driving occupancy, increasing revenue, strengthening the property’s market position, and building long-term relationships with customers and partners.
The Market Manager ensures all marketing activities align with the business’s goals. Also required to help with Motel/Holiday Park chores if needed. For the successful candidate there will be 6 months trial period at minimum wage.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Branding
• Develop and implement annual and seasonal marketing plans.
• Manage online presence, including the website, social media, and online booking platforms (OTAs).
• Coordinate promotions, packages, and special offers tailored to customer segments (families, tour groups, corporate clients).
• Oversee creation of marketing materials, including photos, videos, and brochures.
• Monitor guest reviews across platforms and respond professionally to feedback.
Sales & Business Development
• Identify and cultivate partnerships with travel agents, tourism boards, and corporate clients.
• Attend local or regional tourism events, trade shows, or networking opportunities to promote the property.
• Monitor competitors, market trends, and guest preferences to adjust sales strategies.
Revenue & Performance Management
• Collaborate with the General Manager to set pricing strategies, balancing occupancy goals and profitability.
• Manage the distribution of inventory across OTAs and direct booking channels.
• Analyze booking patterns and customer data to forecast demand and adjust strategies.
• Review financial performance reports and suggest corrective actions where needed.
Customer Engagement
• Support the front office and reservations team to ensure accurate promotion of offers and packages.
• Lead or assist in guest loyalty initiatives and referral programs.
Coordinate on-site guest events or activities in collaboration with the operations team.
Key Relationships
• Internal: General Manager, Front Office Manager, Reservations Team, Housekeeping, Operations Staff
• External: Travel agents, OTA representatives, local tourism boards, marketing suppliers, tour operators
Working Conditions
• Office-based at the motel and holiday park premises, with occasional travel for business development or marketing events.
• May require occasional work outside normal hours during peak seasons, events, or emergencies.
Performance Measures
• Occupancy and revenue growth.
• Execution of marketing campaigns on time and within budget.
• Positive guest feedback and online reputation management.
• Growth in direct bookings versus third-party channels.
• Development and maintenance of key external partnerships.
To be Successful in this Role, You Will Need:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or marketing, ideally within hospitality or tourism sector.
• Qualifications in business management, marketing or hospitality management sectors are advantageous.
• Strong understanding of online booking systems, digital marketing, and social media
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A proactive, results-driven attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Computer literate and familiar with hotel management systems.
• Clean Criminal record.
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Knowledge of Chinese language or any other second language is a bonus but not required
• Familiarity with the Kaikōura tourism landscape (or willingness to learn quickly)
