Position: Café Manager
Location: Napier, New Zealand
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $30 – $32 per hour (depending on experience)
Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Café Manager to lead operations at a busy hospitality venue in Napier. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to oversee both the daily café service and catering for a range of on-site events, from small meetings to large functions.
The café operates 7 days a week, so flexibility to work weekends as part of a roster is essential.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage daily café operations in line with direction from the Food and Beverage Manager

Lead, supervise, and support café staff, including managing weekly rosters

Assist with recruitment, staff onboarding, and training

Ensure high standards in food and beverage preparation, presentation, and customer service

Monitor inventory and stock levels, liaise with suppliers, and manage timely ordering

Oversee cash handling, EFTPOS transactions, and financial reporting

Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and health and safety compliance

Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team environment
What We’re Looking For:

A qualification in hospitality, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a café manager or relevant role

Experience in high-volume or large-scale hospitality environments is an advantage

Exposure to catering or event service is desirable

A proactive and solutions-focused mindset with a drive to improve service and efficiency

Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
