Duty Manager – Gantley’s Tavern

Established in 1865, Gantley's Tavern has been a cornerstone of hospitality in Arthurs Point, enchanting locals and travelers alike with its rich history and warm ambiance. Situated in close proximity to Queenstown's renowned Coronet Peak, our tavern serves as a gathering place for adventures, food enthusiasts, and those seeking a taste of Kiwi hospitality at its finest.

 

The Role

We are currently seeking Duty Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position (minimum 30 hours per week) with a pay rate of $25–$27 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth service during shifts
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and handle any guest concerns with professionalism
  • Support and lead the front-of-house team, including training and mentoring staff
  • Manage bookings, including coordinating group functions and private events
  • Perform cash handling duties, end-of-day reconciliation, and banking
  • Maintain stock levels, manage deliveries, and ensure effective stock rotation

 

What We're Looking For

  • A valid Duty Manager Certificate and LCQ qualification (essential)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ hospitality experience
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in staff training and conflict resolution
  • Solid knowledge of POS systems, cash handling
  • Barista skills are required
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
