We are looking for one or more Personal Care Assistants to deliver quality

personal care services to all clients of Connie’s Angels Homecare Limited, in

accordance with relevant care standards and plans, and current good and

safe practice.

Many of our clients have dementia or head injuries resulting in behavioural

issues.

You must ensure that routine cares are delivered as per client’s care plans

including showering, dressing, mobilising, grooming, nutritional assistance.

This includes but is not limited to:

·       assisting clients with their personal care needs such as washing, toileting,

dressing, changing clothes or pyjamas, soaking or inserting dentures, removing, charging and inserting hearing aids

·       assisting clients with their mobility and communication needs including lifting and hoisting clients if required

·       preparing and serving meals for clients, assist with eating if required

·       having conversational and social interaction with clients while looking after them

·       providing basic treatment and administering medication if required and authorised

·       physical environment comfort measures as required

·       remaining in the room with behaviourally disturbed clients to monitor them during the night and provide reassurance if required

·       regular hourly or more frequent client checks as required by the care plan

·       ensuring clients remain in bed/do not wander if applicable

·       assisting clients to get out of bed, move from room to room and to be seated safely if mobile

·       assisting clients to access entertainment such as newspaper, radio or TV programmes

·       participating in planning the care of individuals

·       following therapy plans such as interventions to assist those with dementia and behavioural problems

·       observing and reporting changes in clients’ condition and vital signs, and reporting complaints or concerns about care

·       assisting with rehabilitation exercises and providing support and assistance to therapists if required

 

As required, you may have to assist with laundry and perform cleaning and kitchen

duties in a helpful manner and maintaining good infection control principles

To be considered for this role you must have EITHER a relevant healthcare

qualification at NZQA Level 4 or higher OR at least 3 years of relevant healthcare

experience will be considered; however, all employees must have at least two years’

experience dealing with clients with Dementia due to home-based care setting.

Many of our clients have dementia or head injuries resulting in behavioural issues. You may be assigned anywhere in Wellington region, including Kapiti Coast.

Previous hospital level care experience would be an advantage.

You must also have the ability to pass drug and alcohol tests and a full, clean drivers

licence. You must also have experience safely lifting clients and using a hoist when

working in pairs.

 

Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed. You may be rostered at any time 24/7. You

must be able to work all required shifts including overnight, weekends or public

holidays. NB due to the nature of the clients, overnight shifts are awake and working,

not sleepover shifts.

Hourly rate of $25 - $30 for all hours worked, plus travel cost per visit.
