Job Description:

As a Cake Decorator, the employee is responsible for producing and decorating a wide variety of cakes and baked products according to company standards, ensuring product quality, visual appeal, and consistency. This includes showcase-ready products and made-to-order cakes.

Key Responsibilities:

Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations

Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients

Prepare and decorate cakes including sponge cakes, mudcakes, cheesecakes, fresh cream cakes, custom-themed cakes.

Apply decorative techniques such as piping, layering, ganache, chocolate curls, fruit topping, glazing, icing and message writing.

Ensure all products meet strict presentation standards as per brand guidelines.

Follow standardised recipes and procedures for all products to ensure consistency.

Manage and complete daily production schedules including showcase cakes (e.g., WS, FC, BF, TIR, CONT).

Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety according to New Zealand regulations.

Handle, store, and rotate ingredients and finished goods appropriately (e.g., cream, ganache, fruits, fillings).

Collaborate with other decorators and kitchen staff to ensure timely production, especially during peak periods.

Maintain accurate records of production and assist with inventory checks and ordering supplies.

Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding production needs or challenges.

Skills and Experience Required:

- At least 3 years of proven experience in cake decorating or commercial baking.
- Strong knowledge of decorating tools and techniques including piping, layering, and message writing.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Good eye for detail, artistic creativity, and presentation.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards (NZQA Food Safety Certificate preferred).
- Ability to stand for long periods and manage multiple tasks.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.
- Prefer can speak mandarin
