Job Summary:

Wah Loong Restaurant is a busy Chinese restaurant & takeaway based in Lower Hutt, Wellington. We are seeking a Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring great customer service, managing inventory and costs, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. A strong passion for Chinese cuisine and strong leadership skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organising, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and takeaway.
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, customer service, and hygiene.
  • Working with chefs to plan, develop, and update menus, including seasonal specials.
  • Recruiting, training, rostering, and supervising front-of-house and kitchen staff.
  • Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and controlling costs to ensure profitability.
  • Preparing and maintaining budgets, financial reports, and other records.
  • Handling customer feedback and resolving any service issues effectively.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
  • Supporting and implementing marketing and promotional activities to attract and retain customers.

Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • At least two years of proven experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant or similar dining establishment, or a relevant vocational qualification in the hospitality management.
  • A sound understanding of food and beverage operations, staff management, and financial control.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
