Job Title: Assistant Chef / Front-of-House Support

Location: Queenstown, New Zealand

Number of Positions: 2

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed)

Days Required: 5–6 days per week, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a rotating roster

Hours per Week: Minimum 30 hours (average 35–40 hours)

Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience

 
About the Role
Zen Art Limited is seeking two energetic and adaptable Assistant Chefs to join our busy team in the heart of Queenstown. This is a dual role, combining kitchen duties with customer service tasks. You’ll be preparing delicious dishes while also interacting with customers, operating the POS system, and ensuring smooth front-of-house operations.

Key Tasks:

Assist chefs with food preparation and cooking
Wash, cut, and prepare ingredients according to recipes
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organisation
Serve customers with a friendly and professional manner
Take orders accurately and process payments using the POS system
Deliver food and beverages to tables where required
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Assist with stock rotation and inventory control
 
Pre-requisites:
Experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred but not essential – training provided
Previous customer service or retail experience is an advantage
Positive attitude and willingness to work across multiple roles
Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Clean police check and drug test
