The Old Taupo Bakehouse is looking for skilled and passionate Bakers (2) to join their team in Rotorua. The ideal candidates will have 2 year-experience in preparing a variety of baked goods while ensuring high-quality standards, food safety compliance, and an excellent customer experience.

 

BAKER - Job Description
Position: Baker 
Location: Rotorua, Bay of Plenty
Employment Type: Full-time 
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week – Monday to Friday  4.30AM to 4.00PM; 
Saturday - 7.00AM to 2.00PM to be scheduled in a roster set by the employer
Hourly Rate: $27.00 - $29.66
Reports To: Business Owner

Key Responsibilities:
•    Prepare and bake bread, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods following recipes and production requirements.
•    Operate and maintain bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters safely and efficiently.
•    Monitor baking processes, adjusting oven temperatures and baking times as needed to ensure consistency and quality.
•    Ensure compliance with New Zealand food safety regulations, including the Food Act 2014 and hygiene standards set by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). Training will be given.
•    Maintain a clean and organized workstation following HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles.
•    Monitor and manage ingredient stock levels, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
•    Assist in developing new recipes and products based on customer preferences and seasonal trends.
•    Work collaboratively with the team to meet daily production targets and customer demands.
•    Provide excellent customer service when required, including assisting with sales and special orders.
•    Ensure all health and safety guidelines under New Zealand workplace standards are followed.

Requirements:
•    Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients
•    Become familiar with New Zealand food safety and hygiene regulations. However, Training will be given.
•    Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
•    Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
•    Physical ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy baking trays.
•    A positive attitude, reliability, and a passion for baking.
