We at Bruno’s Restaurant Ltd. t/a The Birdcage Tavern, one of Auckland’s most iconic bars, is on the lookout for a confident and experienced Duty Manager to help lead our front-of-house team.

Located beside Victoria Park, we’re a busy city-fringe pub known for great food, cold drinks, live sports, and good vibes.

As Duty Manager, you will ensure smooth, on‑shift operations: lead your team, maintain standards, deliver excellent customer service, and support a high‑energy hospitality environment. You will oversee both front‑of‑house and bar areas during your shifts, ensuring guests leave feeling welcomed and well‑cared for.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven hospitality experience in duty or floor management, preferably in high‑volume venues
  • Current Managers Certificate (or working towards it)
  • Strong leadership: team‑driven, positive, and proactive
  • Composure under pressure: you’ll handle busy service, functions, and peak trading times
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills
  • Weekend and evening availability

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff, allocate shifts, and uphold training standards
  • Deliver exceptional service—ensuring timely greeting, seating, and resolution of guest feedback
  • Monitor stock, food safety, and licensing compliance
  • Collaborate with senior management on functions, events, and rostering
  • Contribute ideas for ongoing venue improvement and increased efficiency
