Cobb & Co. New Plymouth is seeking a Shift Manager to support the Restaurant Manager in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of our restaurant. The role involves leading and supervising front-of-house staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining health & safety standards, and contributing to the profitability and reputation of the restaurant.

Minimum guaranteed hours of 30 per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Oversee front-of-house operations during rostered shifts.

·       Lead, support, and organise staff to deliver consistent, high-quality service.

·       Conduct shift briefings, manage reservations, and monitor staffing levels.

·       Maintain high standards of customer service and promptly address customer concerns.

·       Ensure effective communication between front-of-house and kitchen teams.

·       Complete daily administrative tasks, including cash-up, staff timesheet approvals, and recording wastage.

·       Ensure compliance with health and safety and company policies.

·       Lead and support staff to ensure smooth operations, maintain morale, manage performance fairly, process leave and pay queries, and uphold company standards.

·       Train and mentor staff to achieve service standards.

Skills and Experience Required:

·       Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospitality management role in a fast-paced restaurant environment, or NZQF level 2 or above qualification in hospitality.

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

·       Must either hold a current General Manager’s Certificate or be willing to obtain one

Preferred Skills/competencies (not mandatory):

·       Barista and cocktail-making experience.
