We are  a busy bakery/cafe in South Auckland seeking two full-time skilled and passionate Bakers to help prepare a wide range of baked goods including breads, pies, pastries, cakes, and specialty items. The Bakers will be responsible for following recipes, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
 

Hours of Work

  • Shop operating hours: 6:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Sunday.

  • You will work on a rostered shift basis within these hours.

  • We are open most public holidays (except Christmas and Easter), so you must also be available during peak public holiday trading.

  • Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week, up to 40 hours depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  •  Prepare and bake breads, pies, pastries, cakes, and other bakery items according to recipes and customer demand.
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately using baking equipment.
  • Monitor baking process, adjusting oven temperatures, baking times, and production schedules as needed.
  • Decorate and finish baked goods with icing, glazes, or toppings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery area, following food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Manage stock of ingredients and baking supplies; assist with ordering when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients.
 
Qualififations & Experiences:
  • While we prefer candidates with at least 3 years of bakery experience, we also consider applicants who have at least 2 years' relevant experience working as a baker or baker's assistant in either small retail business or factory-based enviroment.
  • Trade qualification advantageous but not essential
  • Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and food safety standards.
  •  Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays if required.
  •  Strong attention to detail, creativity, and time management skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle baking equipment.
 
Desirable Qualities:
  • Passion for baking and creativity in developing new recipes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management.

 

Pay & Benefits:

  • $25 - 35.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
  • Supportive team enviroment in a busy local bakery shop.

 

Eligibility:

Applicant must have New Zealand residency or a valid  NZ work visa.
