We are looking for two dedicated Chinese Cuisine Chefs in our restaurant based in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch. We operate over 7 days so your job will be rostered and flexibility is must. You will be offered 30 -50 hours a week with a competitive rate of $29.66 at minimum.  This is a full time and permanent position.

Applicants must have either a relevant qualification at level 4 at least or at minimum two years’ relevant work experience.

The successful applicant will have great support from an experienced management team.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the quality, flavour, and presentation of dishes at all stages of preparation and service
  • Planning and updating menus to attract more clients and add variety to our existing menu

  • Estimating food and labour costs, managing stock levels, and ordering food supplies including Chinese ingredients, sauces, and condiments

  • Discussing food preparation and service issues with front staff and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations

  • Demonstrating authentic Chinese cooking techniques such as stir-frying, deep-frying, braising, steaming, and roasting, and advising staff on proper cooking procedures

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of Chinese dishes

  • Explaining, maintaining, and enforcing hygiene, food safety, and workplace health regulations in the kitchen

  • Selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff to maintain consistent quality and efficiency

  • Freezing, storing, and preserving foods according to proper food safety standards
