We are looking for two dedicated Chinese Cuisine Chefs in our restaurant based in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch. We operate over 7 days so your job will be rostered and flexibility is must. You will be offered 30 -50 hours a week with a competitive rate of $29.66 at minimum. This is a full time and permanent position.
Applicants must have either a relevant qualification at level 4 at least or at minimum two years’ relevant work experience.
The successful applicant will have great support from an experienced management team.
Main responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the quality, flavour, and presentation of dishes at all stages of preparation and service

Planning and updating menus to attract more clients and add variety to our existing menu

Estimating food and labour costs, managing stock levels, and ordering food supplies including Chinese ingredients, sauces, and condiments

Discussing food preparation and service issues with front staff and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations

Demonstrating authentic Chinese cooking techniques such as stir-frying, deep-frying, braising, steaming, and roasting, and advising staff on proper cooking procedures

Preparing and cooking a variety of Chinese dishes

Explaining, maintaining, and enforcing hygiene, food safety, and workplace health regulations in the kitchen

Selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff to maintain consistent quality and efficiency

Freezing, storing, and preserving foods according to proper food safety standards
