Psychologist and Counsellor Position – Specializing in Mental Health, Trauma, and Addiction Support.


Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals facing mental
health challenges? Our Auckland-based organisation is seeking a dedicated and empathetic psychologist/counsellor to deliver therapeutic support, crisis intervention, and trauma- informed care.


Key Responsibilities
 Provide professional counselling and support for adults and children, including those
with histories of trauma, addiction, and abuse.
 Engage in direct therapy and intervention for clients experiencing psychological distress,
suicidal ideation, or crisis situations.
 Develop and enact wellness programs for schools and educational environments,
collaborating with educators and families to support students with cognitive,
personality, and emotional challenges.
 Work compassionately with vulnerable individuals, including those reintegrating into
society after incarceration and those in rural or underserved communities.
 Assist families and children through legal and reporting processes related to abuse and
domestic violence.

Qualifications/Skills Required
 You must have either a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Equivalent to
NZQA level 7) OR 3 years of relevant experience.
 Clinical experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults.
 Experience in crisis intervention and trauma, including suicide prevention.
 Provisional membership (counsellor) with NZAC or eligibility to obtain.

This is a full-time permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours per week and maximum 40 hours per week. The pay rate for this position will be $39.50 NZD per hour.
