Bar Manager – Bay of Plenty Region

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Bar Manager to lead our team and deliver exceptional customer service in the Bay of Plenty region. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about hospitality and eager to grow in a dynamic, people-focused environment.

You will be responsible for ensuring smooth bar operations, maintaining a high standard of service, and creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Key Details:

  • Minimum 30 to maximum 45 hours per week

  • Must be available to work late evenings, weekends, and public holidays

  • Leadership role with hands-on customer engagement

As the main point of contact for our customers, your professionalism, energy, and ability to inspire your team will be key to the bar’s success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support staff in serving alcoholic beverages responsibly and courteously

  • Ensure the bar area is always clean, well-organized, and presentable

  • Deliver effective and friendly customer service in line with company standards

  • Monitor staff performance and ensure financial and operational targets are met

  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and inventory to ensure smooth daily operations

  • Manage inventory of beverages, garnishes, and bar supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling

  • Monitor bar budgets, costs, and profitability while controlling waste, theft, and over-pouring

  • Lead the team to maintain company standards and a positive workplace culture

  • Handle staffing matters including recruitment, appraisals, training, and development

  • Introduce new ideas to promote the business and maximize profitability

  • Ensure the venue is clean, stocked, and ready for the next day’s operation

  • Engage with customers to collect feedback and improve satisfaction

  • Resolve guest complaints and customer issues professionally

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, Food Safety and Hygiene Act, and Employment Relations Act


Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ industry experience or a Level 5 or higher diploma qualification in Communication

  • Physically fit, reliable, and punctual

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

  • Team player with a positive attitude

  • Clean character background

  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and comply with all workplace policies


Remuneration

Salary will be negotiated based on proven experience and qualifications, ranging from $30 to $35 per hour.
