Gourmet Restaurant Ltd T/A Shaolin Noodles is a well-known noodle restaurant in Auckland, famous for its hand-pulled noodles, knife-cut noodles, and authentic Henan-style dishes. We focus on traditional techniques and freshly cooked meals, delivering simple yet memorable flavours that our customers love. As our customer base continues to grow, we are looking for experienced and passionate kitchen professionals to join our team and bring the authentic “Shaolin flavour” to more diners.
Position Details
Job Title: Chinese Cook
Hours: Full-time (30–48 hours per week)
Pay Rate: NZD $28 – $30 per hour (depending on experience and performance)
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Reports to: Head Chef / Manager
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, select and prepare fresh ingredients for daily menu items
Cook and season a variety of Chinese noodle dishes, stir-fries and hot dishes
Perform slicing, chopping, seasoning, stir-frying, boiling and noodle preparation
Maintain consistent flavour, presentation and food quality
Monitor cooking processes to ensure hygiene and safety standards
Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas
Assist with inventory control and report low stock levels
Participate in testing new dishes and developing menu items
Skills & Experience Required
At least 2 years of experience in a Chinese restaurant kitchen
Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques (including wok cooking and noodle preparation)
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent attention to detail and food safety awareness
Reliable, team-oriented and responsible
