Company; Breadhead Limited is a busy community bakery in Tauranga. We bake a broad range of sourdough, yeasted bread, pastry, sweets and savoury food and brew great coffee for our community. We have just expanded and recently opened our second site at Toi Tauranga Art Gallery.

Minimum Payrate: $29.66 per hour

Maximum Payrate: $30 per hour

Minimum Hours work per week: 30 hours

Maximum Hours work per week: 47 hours

Eligibility Criteria; 

  • Must have worked at least 2 years as a commercial pastry cook or baker
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of dough management
  • A trade qualification in Bakery or Patisserie would be an added advantage
  • Must be ready to work early start hours, as early as 4am, and split shifts
  • Must be ready to work a rostered 7 day week operation (5 days a week)

Summary of Job Responsiblities;

  • Displaying accuracy, skill and care during all aspects of dough management 
  • Managing pastry production and ordering schedules
  • Accurate and consistent shaping, proofing and storage of doughs
  • Making dough to a set recipe for multiple different items
  • Organsing the process of loading, baking and unloading different types and volumes of small bread and pastry. And baking accurately and consistently
  • Checking oven temperatures aned monitoring baking times for quality
  • Maintaing the standards of quality, cost, presentation, flavour and recipe of products. If standards not met,  raising concernwith head baker and/or owner and devising on a solution
  • Taking responsibility for controlling food costs to achieve minimum wastage
  • Being organised and efficient and recommending changes to improve sections operation
  • Assisting on all sections, as required, with efficiency and care
  • Being familiar with and following the food control plan
  • Ensuring food is labelled, dated and safety stored as per food safety standards
  • Researching and developing product range and contributing ideas
  • Ensure all hygiene regulations are adhered to and food safety is maintained 
  • Maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and presentation
