Clinical Nurse Manager – PACU

Full Time | Auckland | Up to $135,000 + benefits

Lead a State-of-the-Art PACU. Shape Practice. Build a Team You’re Proud Of.

If you’re the kind of Nurse Manager who walks onto a unit and everything instantly feels calmer, clearer, and just… better — keep reading.

One of Auckland’s premier surgical hospitals has instructed Kate at Carejobz to recruit for an outstanding leadership opportunity! And if you’re an experienced Nurse Manager from PACU, Perioperative, ICU, ED, or similar acute environments — this role was built for you.

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn’t “another nurse manager job.”

This is your chance to lead a 17-bay PACU connected to 10 state-of-the-art theatres, a high-acuity, high-performance unit where clinical excellence isn’t the goal; it’s the baseline.

You’ll step into a role where leadership actually means leadership:

shaping culture

developing talent

elevating clinical standards

improving systems

collaborating with senior specialists

and driving outcomes that matter

All backed by a theatre manager.

What You’ll Own (and absolutely thrive in)

Operational & Clinical Leadership

  • Managing day-to-day PACU operations within a high-acuity perioperative service
  • Leading a team of skilled RNs (including a Team Leader)
  • Ensuring optimal staffing, skill mix, and patient flow across busy theatre lists
  • Overseeing quality, safety, and clinical governance in line with best practice
  • Embedding high-performance culture through mentorship, feedback, development, and accountability

Service Improvement & Strategy

  • Using TrendCare effectively (including forecasting, activity management & rostering)
  • Monitoring budgets, resourcing, and cost efficiency
  • Driving innovation, research participation, and service improvement
  • Ensuring adherence to safety, incident reporting, documentation, and organisational standards

Relationship Building

  • Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting the development of future leaders within your unit
  • Being the clinical role model others naturally follow

Who You Are

You’re the kind of leader who inspires confidence from the moment you step onto the floor.

You’ll bring:

  • NZ RN with APC
  • Previous Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, or ACNM-level leadership experience
  • Background in PACU, ICU, ED, Perioperative, or similar high-acuity environments
  • Leadership or management qualification (or willingness to complete one)
  • Advanced clinical judgement + the emotional intelligence to lead from the front

Salary & Benefits

  • Up to $135,000 per annum
  • 5 weeks annual leave
  • Health insurance subsidy
  • Ongoing leadership & postgraduate development
  • Gym membership discounts
  • Travel & parking benefits
  • Christmas/New Year shutdown
  • And a long list of extras that actually add value
