Registered Nurse – Orthopaedic Operating Theatres

Auckland | Permanent Role | Up to $52.89 per hour | Flexible Shifts

Step into one of Auckland’s most advanced perioperative environments, working across 10 purpose-built operating theatres within a brand-new surgical wing.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Orthopaedic Theatre RN who wants to deliver world-class surgical outcomes in a high-performing, modern OR setting.

All surgeries are elective, and the roster spans Monday to Saturday with 6, 8 and 10-hour shifts, staggered between 0700 and 1200, with the latest finish at 2030.

 

About the Role

We’re seeking a Registered Nurse who is confident, skilled, and ready to scrub for high-acuity orthopaedic surgery.

 

Your experience MUST include:

Current or very recent experience scrubbing for joint replacements and/or spinal surgeries in NZ (or comparable healthcare systems such as Australia, the UK, or Ireland).

You’ll be part of a surgical service that supports specialties including Orthopaedics/Spinal, Head & Neck, Plastics, Vascular, ENT/ORL, Cardiothoracic, Colorectal/Gastro, Urology and Oncology. Post-op services include ICU, HDU and cardiac intervention facilities, ensuring seamless patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based perioperative care

• Scrub & circulate for joint and/or spinal procedures

• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, PACU, and wider teams

• Maintain high standards of documentation, infection control, and patient safety

• Participate in continuous improvement, training, and development

• Support smooth theatre flow and efficient case progression

 

About You

NZ Registered Nurse with a current APC

Recent Orthopaedic theatre scrub experience — joints and/or spines

Experience gained in NZ, Australia, UK, or Ireland

Strong technical skill, attention to detail, and situational awareness

Excellent communication and teamwork

Commitment to professional development and best-practice perioperative nursing
