About the Role
We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Cooks to join our dynamic kitchen team. In this role, you will support the smooth and effective operation of the kitchen, assist the Director with catering services, help enhance sales and profitability, and maintain our high standards of food preparation and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect food supplies to ensure quality, freshness, and correct storage.
- Regulate and monitor temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Season dishes appropriately throughout the cooking process.
- Portion and present food attractively with appropriate gravies, sauces, and garnishes.
- Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Prepare meals in accordance with special dietary requirements when needed.
- Assist with menu planning and estimating food requirements (as required).
- Provide training, guidance, and support to kitchen staff and apprentices (as needed).
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cook, ideally with a focus on Japanese or Asian cuisine.
- Minimum two years of relevant work experience or a recognised culinary qualification.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, food safety, and workplace health and safety practices.
- High-level culinary skills with attention to creativity and precision.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment; supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Good communication skills with a collaborative and positive approach to teamwork.
