Job Title: Cook (2 positions available)
Location: Christchurch, Canterbury region
Hours: Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week
Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Open 7 days a week, you will work according to the roster

Your tasks include:

• Take care of daily food preparation and duties to meet the standard and quality.

• Follows instructions and recommendations from executive management.

• Order food supplies as and when required in the kitchen as per budget decided.

• Train junior staff.

• Estimate daily production needs and check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure standards are met.

• Ensure production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times.

• Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.

• Full awareness of all menu items, recipes, methods of production and presentation standards and ensure all issues are discussed with kitchen staff, management and other stakeholders.

• Responsible for hygiene, safety and correct use of equipment and utensils.

• To produce own work in accordance with deadlines.

• Periodically check expiry date and proper storage of food items in section.

• Abide and enforce health codes and cleanliness standards in the kitchen and food storage areas.

• Ensure plating accuracy, garnishing, portion size and correct serving dish.

• Comply with health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience or a relevant qualification at level 4 and above.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high food quality standards.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with kitchen staff, management, and other stakeholders.

• Flexible and reliable, able to work various shifts as per roster.
