Hotel Manager wanted
Castles Motel (KNY Holdings Ltd) is a well-established accommodation provider in Nelson, New Zealand, offering comfortable and affordable motel accommodation for families, corporate travellers and group visitors. We are committed to delivering high-quality service and a positive guest experience throughout every stay.
We are currently seeking a Motel Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Castles Motel. This is a full-time position with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, based at our Nelson property.
Main task
The Motel Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, staff management, property maintenance and financial performance of the motel to ensure efficient operations, regulatory compliance and high-quality guest experiences. The role also involves managing occupancy, pricing and service standards to support sustainable business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily motel operations, including reservations, front office, housekeeping and guest services, to ensure efficient operations and consistent service standards.
- Recruit, train, supervise and roster reception and housekeeping staff to maintain adequate coverage and service quality during peak and off-peak periods.
- Manage the upkeep of buildings, guest rooms and shared facilities, coordinating maintenance, refurbishment and external contractors to ensure safety and presentation.
- Monitor guest feedback, handle complaints and implement service improvements to enhance customer satisfaction across all guest segments.
- Manage accommodation pricing, purchasing, invoicing, expense control and basic financial administration to support profitability.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, accommodation regulations, fire safety standards and relevant local authority obligations.
- Manage room rates, promotions and seasonal pricing, liaising with booking platforms and direct customers to maximise occupancy and revenue.
- Provide local tourism information and assist guests with transport, group bookings and special requests as required.
The successful candidate must have:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience OR a Bachelor's degree OR above qualification in any discipline
- Good work attitude and good communication skills
- Strong motivation
- Physical fitness and the ability to handle the heavy workload
- Quality workmanship and eye for detail
- Strong dedication to health and workplace safety
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with other team members.
