Job Title: Cook

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Cook (2 positions) to join our vibrant kitchen team based in Christchurch, Canterbury region.

The Cook will be responsible for

-Preparing, cooking, and presenting food items in accordance with the restaurant’s menu and quality standards

-Duties include food preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety standards, monitoring stock, and supporting smooth kitchen operations.

- Season, taste, and adjust recipes during preparation to maintain consistency and flavour profiles

-Plate dishes with attention to portion control, visual presentation, and final garnishing

-Safely store raw and cooked items in appropriate conditions to meet food safety standards

-Assist with menu development and contribute to estimating daily and weekly food supply needs

-Guide junior staff with food preparation techniques and safe kitchen practices

-Support kitchen efficiency through proper preparation and inventory rotation

-Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen according to hygiene regulations

Hours of Work:

-Full-time employment

-Minimum: 30 hours per week

Pay Rate:

-$26.00-$30 per hour depending upon prior experience.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

-Minimum 2 years of experience working as a cook or level 4 or higher qualification in hotel management, cookery or any related industry

-Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team and multitask in a high-pressure kitchen environment

- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
