Job Description:

We are a busy café located on Albany, North Shore City, specialising in breakfast and brunch cuisine. 

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard while ensuring food safety and hygiene requirements are met.

Position: Cook
Location: North Shore City, Auckland
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Guaranteed Hours:  30 - 35 hours per week
Business Hours: Monday to Sunday, between 8:00am – 6:00pm

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and present café-style breakfast and brunch dishes in accordance with the menu and established recipes.

  • Prepare ingredients prior to service, including washing, chopping, portioning, and assembling food items.

  • Ensure consistency in food quality, portion size, and presentation.

  • Work efficiently during busy service periods, particularly breakfast and brunch service.

  • Store food items appropriately and ensure correct temperature control to minimise spoilage.

  • Monitor stock levels, rotate stock, and report shortages when required.

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.

  • Clean and sanitise food preparation and storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.

  • Comply with all food health, safety, and hygiene regulations.

  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members.

  • Assist in resolving customer order issues related to food preparation when required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook or other kitchen role in a commercial kitchen (café or restaurant).

  • Experience preparing breakfast and brunch dishes is preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

  • Ability to follow recipes and workplace procedures accurately.

  • Good time management and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work on weekends and public holidays as required.

  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
