Health Option Dunedin Limited, trading as Burger N Beast, operates two busy restaurant locations in Dunedin. As the business continues to expand, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager. The successful candidate will be primarily based at the new store in South Dunedin, with occasional support provided to the North Dunedin store as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency and service standards
- recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of staff in line with company policies
- Promote exceptional customer service and ensure a positive dining experience for all guests
- Develop promotional strategies, manage social media and online presence, coordinate special events and offers, and strengthen brand visibility
- Prepare and manage staff rosters effectively
- Coordinate weekly stock orders with the kitchen team
- Check deliveries, verify orders, and manage daily banking
- Prepare and maintain stock records, employee timesheets, and operational paperwork
- Manage cash handling procedures and minimise wastage
- Review weekly sales and inventory reports and identify opportunities for business improvement in collaboration with the owners
- Oversee housekeeping to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers
- Provide high-quality customer service and respond promptly to customer enquiries
- Manage purchasing, pricing of goods, budgeting, and financial transactions
- Work closely with chefs on menu planning and development
- Organise and set up special functions and events
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and Alcohol Act regulations
- Collect, review, and act on customer feedback in a professional manner
- Train and supervise both front-of-house and kitchen staff
Requirements:
- Relevant Level 4 qualification in Hospitality or Business OR at least two years of relevant management experience
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- A clean Alcohol and drug test may be requested.
