We're Hiring: PAL PRODUCTIONS NZ LIMITED is looking for cooks to join the team in helping us expand and offer more to the public.

Pay Rate: $27.00 – $32.00 per hour (based on experience)

A minimum of 30 hours per week is gauranteed 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes in accordance with menu requirements and quality standards.

  • Prepare and cook special meals as instructed by the Chef or Dietitian to meet specific dietary needs.

  • Plan menus and estimate food and ingredient requirements in line with operational demands.

  • Calculate food costs based on the number of guests and assist with cost control.

  • Supervise, schedule, and provide guidance to kitchen assistants, staff, and apprentices.

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery.

  • Maintain accurate records of food supplies, inventory, and kitchen equipment.

  • Check the freshness, quality, and storage of food and ingredients to ensure food safety compliance.

  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is safe, functional, and properly maintained.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and work areas in accordance with food safety regulations.

  • Comply with workplace health and safety policies and ensure a safe working environment.

  • Train kitchen staff as required and support skill development within the team.

  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:

  • A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (e.g., Certificate in Cookery) or overseas equivalent.
  • Alternatively, at least two years of relevant work experience, which may include prior experience working in a cafe/restaurant/foodtruck etc, may substitute for the formal qualification.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in Indian cuisine or a relevant culinary qualification.
  • Ability to prepare and cook a variety of meals, including following standard recipes and special dietary requirements.
  • Flexible to work split shifts (lunch and dinner), weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Demonstrated reliability, honesty, and dedication to performing job responsibilities to a high standard.
  • Physically fit and able to handle the workload and pressures of a busy kitchen environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety, food safety, and hygiene standards, with the ability to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
