We are looking for 2 Chinese Cuisine Cooks to join our busy team based in Rangiora, Christchurch.

This is a full-time and permanent position. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week.

The ideal candidates will be skilled at multitasking and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment — particularly during peak hours and weekends.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and authenticity in line with Chinese culinary standards.

  • Operate and manage temperatures for wok stations, steamers, ovens, and other specialised cooking equipment.

  • Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes using traditional techniques (e.g., stir-frying, steaming, braising, deep-frying).

  • Season and flavour dishes accurately during cooking, utilising a range of sauces, spices, and condiments essential to Chinese cuisine.

  • Portion, plate, and garnish finished dishes appropriately, ensuring visual appeal and correctness.

  • Properly store raw ingredients and prepared food in designated temperature-controlled storage areas.

  • Accommodate special dietary requests (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free) while maintaining flavour integrity.

  • Potentially assist in menu planning and calculating food quantities needed for preparation.

  • May provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff or apprentices in Chinese cooking methods.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience or a relevant Level 4 qualification is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and reference check from a previous employer.
