Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week to maximum 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: NZD $25.00 – $31.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience

Job Purpose

We are seeking two skilled Cooks to prepare, cook, and present authentic Southeast Asian dishes in accordance with traditional recipes and company standards. The role requires a strong focus on food quality, consistency, and compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes specialising in Southeast Asian cuisine

  • Plan menus, determine portion sizes, and estimate food and ingredient requirements

  • Monitor the quality, taste, and presentation of dishes to maintain consistent standards

  • Ensure food preparation areas are clean, safe, and compliant with hygiene regulations

  • Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients

  • Train and supervise kitchen assistants or other kitchen staff when required

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality control standards

  • Adapt recipes to accommodate dietary requirements or special customer requests

  • Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage

  • Assist with preparing and implementing new menu items as directed that reflect current Asian culinary trends

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience cooking authentic Southeast Asian dishes

  • Strong knowledge of Asian ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavour profiles

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment

  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • High attention to detail and consistency in food preparation

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience as a Cook is required, with a preference for candidates who have at least two years’ experience specialising in Southeast Asian cuisine.
  • or a least a level 2 qualification in Cookery

Work Conditions

  • Required to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

  • Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat and commercial cooking equipment
