Wendy Yang Limited trading as BREAM BAY TAKEAWAYS is a locally owned and long-standing takeaway restaurant located in Ruakākā. While we are known for our high-quality fish and chips and Kiwi-style fast food, we also serve a wide range of Chinese-style hot dishes including fried rice, stir-fried noodles, sweet and sour dishes, and other wok-based meals. We are seeking skilled and reliable Cooks to join our busy kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Cook, your duties will include:

Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes including traditional Kiwi takeaway items (fish, chips, burgers) as well as Chinese-style meals such as fried rice, chow mein, stir-fried vegetables, and sweet and sour dishes

Operating kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, gas stoves, ovens, woks, and grills efficiently and safely

Ensuring all dishes meet high standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene

Coordinating food preparation during peak hours to ensure timely service

Managing food storage, rotation, and cleanliness in accordance with food safety regulations

Assisting with stock control and daily kitchen preparation

Training and supervising junior kitchen staff when required
Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum 2 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen

Ability to use a wok and prepare stir-fried dishes is essential

Good knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and cleaning protocols

Strong time management and the ability to work efficiently under pressure

A team player with good communication and reliability

Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays
