Wendy Yang Limited trading as BREAM BAY TAKEAWAYS is a locally owned and long-standing takeaway restaurant located in Ruakākā. While we are known for our high-quality fish and chips and Kiwi-style fast food, we also serve a wide range of Chinese-style hot dishes including fried rice, stir-fried noodles, sweet and sour dishes, and other wok-based meals. We are seeking skilled and reliable Cooks to join our busy kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Cook, your duties will include:

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes including traditional Kiwi takeaway items (fish, chips, burgers) as well as Chinese-style meals such as fried rice, chow mein, stir-fried vegetables, and sweet and sour dishes

  • Operating kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, gas stoves, ovens, woks, and grills efficiently and safely

  • Ensuring all dishes meet high standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene

  • Coordinating food preparation during peak hours to ensure timely service

  • Managing food storage, rotation, and cleanliness in accordance with food safety regulations

  • Assisting with stock control and daily kitchen preparation

  • Training and supervising junior kitchen staff when required

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen

  • Ability to use a wok and prepare stir-fried dishes is essential

  • Good knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and cleaning protocols

  • Strong time management and the ability to work efficiently under pressure

  • A team player with good communication and reliability

  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays
