We are a restaurant here in Christchurch, New Zealand, and we are looking for 2x Cooks to join our team! You must be skilled, hardworking, and have the ability to work in high pressure environments. 

We offer competitve pay, between $24.50 to $28.00 (depending on experience) and a minimum of 30 hours per week. This is a fulltime role; work is as per the roster, Monday to Sunday.

At our establishment, you will complete the following tasks: 

  • examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • preparing and cooking food
  • seasoning food during cooking
  • portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • ensuring that our dishes have that distinctive, smoky Texan vibe and flavour
  • assisting head chefs with menu planning and food preparation.

You should have the following: 

Qualifications & experience

  •  Minimum 1 year of experience working as a cook or level 4 or higher qualification in hotel management, cookery or any related industry
  •  Familiarity with Indian regional cuisines and cooking techniques
  •  Ability to multitask in a high-pressure kitchen environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

 

Training will be offered to the successful candiates, to ensure that you are ready to hit the ground running at our establishment.
