We are seeking a Cafe Manager to plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the operations of our busy cafe in Petone, Wellington. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing staff, customer service, financial performance, compliance obligations and day to day business operations to ensure the cafe operates efficiently and profitably. 

Key Responsibilities

-Planning and managing daily cafe operations.

-Recruiting, training supervising and motivating front of house staff.

-Ensuring high standards of customer service is consistently delivered.

-Planning menus in consulation with chefs.

-Managing promotions, marketing activities and customer engagement strategies.

-Managing supplier relationships and procurement of stock.

-Monitoring stock levels and controlling costs.

-Coordinating and managing function and events.

-Managing cash handling, budgeting and financial records.

-Ensuring compliance with food safety, health and safety and hygiene regulations.

-Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and other applicable laws.

 

Skills and experience required 

-At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a hospitality, customer service or management role.

OR

-A relevant NZQF level 5 or higher qualification.

 

In addition, the applicants must demonstrate:

-Strong organisational and people management skills.

-Excellent communication and customer service skills.

-Ability to manage business operations in a fast-paced environment.

-Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

-Availability to work weekends and within a rostered schedule.

-Permanent full-time role.

Hospitality experience is advantageous but not essential. Applicants without direct hospitality experience may still be considered if they demonstrate strong organisational capability, leadership skills and a customer focused approach.
