Do you love working with children and supporting whānau in the community? Are you friendly, organised, and comfortable engaging with Māori and Pacific whānau? This could be a really meaningful role for you.

We’re looking for a Whānau Engagement Coordinator to join a healthcare organisation based in Takapuna, supporting an important Rheumatic Fever heart screening project.

This is a temporary assignment starting ASAP running through to the end of December.

About the role

You’ll be working alongside nursing staff, visiting schools and helping children and their whānau through the screening process. Your role will be key in making kids feel comfortable, supported, and confident.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with children and whānau in a warm, friendly way
  • Helping children complete required paperwork
  • Escorting students to and from free heart screening appointments
  • Supporting nursing staff during school visits
  • Travelling between schools as needed

What we’re looking for

  • A great communicator with a friendly, approachable nature
  • Someone who is comfortable working with children
  • Tongan language skills preferred, due to working closely with Tongan families
  • Experience working with Māori and/or Pacific communities is essential
  • A full NZ driver’s licence and own car (preferred) — mileage can be claimed
  • Reasonable Microsoft Office skills for basic admin and data entry

If you’re passionate about community health, enjoy being out and about, and want to make a real difference for tamariki and whānau, we’d love to hear from you.
