A well-established and busy hotel in Te Anau is seeking an experienced Night Shift Duty Manager to join the team on a full-time basis.


Located in the heart of Te Anau, gateway to Fiordland National Park, the hotel welcomes international travellers, tour groups, and independent guests year-round.


This role is not a liquor-licensed duty manager position.

Night Shift Duty Manager (Full-Time)

Location: Te Anau, Southland
Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
Hours: no less than 35 hours per week (Night Shift)
Pay Rate: $27 – $31 per hour (based on experience)

Position Summary
This is a full-time overnight leadership role. You will be the senior on-site representative during night hours, responsible for smooth hotel operations, guest satisfaction, safety, and service continuity.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee overnight reception, reservations, guest services, and housekeeping coordination
• Manage late check-ins, early departures, and overnight guest requests
• Conduct night patrols to ensure guest safety and property security
• Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally
• Complete basic night audit tasks and operational reports
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
• Monitor property condition and report maintenance issues
• Provide local tourism information to guests
• Prepare handover notes for the morning team

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree is required; a qualification in hotel management, hospitality, tourism, or a related field is preferred
• A minimum of one year of relevant hotel or hospitality experience is required

Skills & Attributes
• Strong hotel guest service background
• Ability to work independently during night shifts
• Calm, reliable, and good decision-making ability
• Good spoken and written English
• Comfortable using hotel PMS systems
• High level of responsibility and attention to detail
• No liquor licence required
