As part of our business growth and menu expansion, we are introducing a broader range of authentic Chinese cuisine. We are currently seeking a skilled Chinese Cook who specialises in traditional Chinese dishes, including handmade noodles, dumplings, steamed buns (baozi), and classic stir-fry specialties.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide range of traditional Chinese dishes, including Chinese-style noodles, dumplings, steamed buns (baozi), and stir-fry dishes
- Examine food ingredients to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for cooking
- Operate and regulate the temperature of ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment
- Season dishes appropriately to achieve authentic Chinese flavour profiles
- Portion, plate, and garnish dishes according to presentation standards
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities to ensure food safety compliance
- Prepare meals in accordance with any special dietary requirements when required
- Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements
- Train or assist junior kitchen staff when required
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene and health and safety regulations
- Conduct stocktakes and assist in inventory control
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas and ensure proper waste disposal procedures
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues
- Perform other related duties as reasonably required by management
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Chinese Cook
- Sound knowledge of traditional Chinese ingredients and cooking techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Mandarin language skills are an advantage but not essential
- A relevant NZQF Level 4 culinary qualification is preferred but not mandatory
- A recognised Chinese culinary or occupational qualification is preferred
