About the Company
Day Night Traffic Limited is an Auckland-based company providing civil construction works and traffic management services across the region. We support a range of infrastructure and roading projects and are looking for a Financial / Accounts Administrator to manage our day-to-day financial and accounts functions.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities


Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers, including coding, data entry and timely processing of supplier and customer invoices.

Process supplier payments, staff reimbursements and company credit card transactions, ensuring appropriate approvals.

Prepare and complete regular bank, debtor and creditor reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts, financial statements and project/job costing reports for civil and traffic control contracts.

Update and maintain the general ledger and other financial records in the accounting system.

Assist with budgeting, cashflow forecasts and variance analysis for management review.

Prepare and file GST, PAYE and other statutory tax returns in accordance with New Zealand legislation.

Support payroll processing (30+ staff), including importing timesheets, checking hours and allowances for field crews, and ensuring correct deductions.

Monitor customer accounts, follow up overdue invoices and manage basic credit control.

Maintain accurate and secure financial records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, suppliers and project managers where required.

Contribute to the development and implementation of internal financial controls, policies and procedures.

Minimum Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential requirements (genuinely needed for the role):

At least 2 years’ experience in an accounts, bookkeeping or financial administration role and/or a relevant qualification at level 4 or above. 

Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger work.

Working knowledge of New Zealand GST, PAYE and general tax/compliance obligations.

Competent user of accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

Good numeracy, attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliations.

Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with both office staff and site-based teams.
