Days Required:
Our businesses operate 7 days a week from lunch to dinner. Successful applicants must be available to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a rotating roster.
Hours per Week:
Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.
Hours will be allocated based on the staff roster.
Hourly Rate:
$25.00 – $27.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Job Description
Zen Art Limited is seeking two motivated and reliable Assistant Managers to support the day-to-day operations of its venues in Canterbury. Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Supporting day-to-day restaurant operations during service
- Supervising front-of-house staff to ensure smooth workflow and high levels of customer satisfaction
- Handling customer inquiries, reservations, and complaints in a professional manner
- Assisting with staff training, shift management, and performance monitoring
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies
- Enforcing food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures
- Overseeing opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act (if certified)
- Assisting in maintaining service standards consistent with the brand
- Working across controlled third-party companies if required
Familiarity with Asian-style cuisines, particularly Japanese and/or Korean cuisines, is important as you will be expected to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
Job Pre-Requisites
- At least six months’ relevant restaurant experience
- Sound knowledge of Asian-style cuisines (Japanese and/or Korean cuisine experience preferred)
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the role
- Understanding of food safety and health & safety requirements
- LCQ qualification and Manager’s Certificate (preferred but not essential)
