We are seeking an experienced and motivated Café Manager to lead our café team at
FIVERIVER HOSPITALITY LIMITED. This is primarily a Monday to Friday role; however, the role requires a commitment to work on weekends and public holidays as needed. There may also be occasions where late shifts are necessary due to catering orders for council events that extend into the night.
The candidate must be able to work but not limited to:
Run smooth operations of the cafe Juggling great service, training and rostering your team, planning for future growth, is all in a day’s work
Must be able to plan the menus to be served in the restaurant in consultation with the chefs.
Organize events and functions, make proper plans and arrangements for the gathering
Manage purchases and pricing with the suppliers and carefully prepare a budget for optimal profit
Maintain accurate records of stock levels
Manage financial transactions of the restaurants and maintain good record- keeping
Having discussions with the customers to assess if the customers are satisfied with the meals and services provided
Value customer feedback and develop strategies for continuous improvements
Assuring that the dining facilities meet the health and safety regulations
Ensure that everything is clean, functional and of suitable/presentable appearance.
Select and train the waiting and kitchen staff along with supervising the staff.
May be required to take the reservations/bookings.
Must greet the guests and assist them in taking orders when required.
Manage ordering responsibilities efficiently and cost-effectively.
Communicate directly with Porirua Council to process catering orders and maintain professional working relationships.
Monitor the council’s yearly timetable and proactively follow up on upcoming events at the Arena building.
Build strong community connections, as the café operates under the Porirua Council.
Required Skills & Experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven leadership experience managing teams and coordinating major events
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach
A proactive attitude and commitment to achieving results
Must hold NZQF Level 7 qualification or higher, or relevant hospitality industry experience preferred
