Whispers Cafe is a well-established hospitality venue located in Palmerston North, offering quality food, beverages, and excellent customer service. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure the smooth running of the café.
As a Restaurant Manager, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Planning and organising special functions and events

Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods in accordance with budget

Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions

Ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and presentable

Conferring with customers to assess satisfaction with meals and service
-
Selecting, training and supervising waiting and kitchen staff
-
Taking reservations, greeting guests and assisting in service when required
-
Managing staff rosters, payroll coordination and performance management
-
Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements

Monitoring and controlling operational costs to maximise profitability
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced restaurant
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following:

At least 2 years of relevant work experience,
OR -
A relevant NZQF Level 4 or higher qualification

Experience managing staff and hospitality operations preferred

Strong leadership and communication skills

Sound knowledge of food safety and health & safety regulations

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and public holidays

Competitive hourly rate of $35–$40 per hour depending on experience
