We are a busy Bakery located in Opotiki. We are looking for two hard-working, dedicated Bakers to join our team to serve high-quality food for our customers, who can follow health & safety regulations, and uplift our shop standards.

This job will guarantee 30 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours roster between the hours of 4:30 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday and between 6 am to 3 pm on Saturday. You will be required to work during Saturday and some public holidays except Christmas and New Year to meet the needs of the business operation hours.

Purpose of the Role

The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of bakery products to ensure consistent quality and freshness for customers. The role supports the day-to-day production of baked goods and contributes to the efficient operation of the bakery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Baker will be responsible for:

• Preparing doughs, batters, and fillings according to established recipes.
• Mixing, kneading, shaping, and baking bread, rolls, pastries, and other bakery products.
• Monitoring baking processes, including oven temperatures and baking times.
• Decorating and finishing bakery products when required.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the work area.
• Operating bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assisting with preparation of ingredients and stock rotation.
• Ensuring products meet quality standards before being displayed or sold.
• Working cooperatively with other bakery staff to meet production targets.
• Assisting with cleaning duties and maintaining a tidy work environment.

Applicants should have:

• At least 2 years of relevant baking experience, OR
• A relevant qualification
• Good knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients
• Ability to work in a fast-paced bakery environment
• Good time management and attention to detail
• Ability to work early morning shifts and weekends

The pay would be $25 /per hour to $35/ per hour, depending on your skill level and work experience.

The successful candidate must be able to pass a drug test and have a clean criminal record.
