We are looking for a passionate Cook specialising in tandoor and curry dishes to join our busy restaurant in Timaru. This is a full-time, permanent position, working six days per week, with a minimum of 30 hours and max 35 hours per week. The hourly pay rate will be  $25 - $26.50.

 

We are looking Indian Cook specialises in tandoor and curry who has at least 2 years work experience. The role is full time and permanent with pay of $25 - $26.50 per hour with a guaranteed minimum of 30 - 35 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes, particularly tandoor items and curry-based dishes.

  • Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation of all menu items.

  • Maintain availability of the full menu during trading hours.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of traditional Indian cooking methods, including grinding spices and preparing sauces.

Kitchen Operations

  • Work independently during busy service periods and efficiently manage kitchen duties.

  • Assist in monitoring stock rotation and checking use-by dates.

  • Ensure all deliveries of ingredients are properly checked, recorded, and meet quality standards.

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Train and support junior cooks and kitchen hands when required.

  • Work collaboratively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams during service.

  • Help maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Customer Service & Quality

  • Maintain a customer-focused approach within the kitchen team.

  • Assist in addressing customer feedback or complaints professionally.

  • Suggest ideas to improve food quality, service, and menu offerings.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and health regulations at all times.

  • Ensure compliance with restaurant policies and procedures.
