Cook (3 Positions Available) – New Plymouth
Location: New Plymouth, within Taranaki region
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (guaranteed)
Pay Rate: $24.00–$30.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Rostered shifts, 7 days a week
We are looking for three reliable and motivated Cooks to join our busy kitchen team in New Plymouth. If you are passionate about food preparation, enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment, and take pride in delivering consistent quality, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook menu items to a consistent standard.
• Complete daily food preparation tasks following recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
• Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and adhere to all kitchen procedures.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation and storage areas.
• Correctly handle, store, and rotate food items, including monitoring expiry dates.
• Check the quality of raw and cooked food products.
• Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
• Assist with monitoring stock levels and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishing.
• Support with receiving, storing, and organising food deliveries.
• Maintain good knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
• Plate dishes accurately with correct portion sizes and garnishes, ensuring presentation meets restaurant standards.
Role Requirements
• At least 1 year of relevant experience, or a relevant Level 4+ qualification.
• Strong attention to detail, especially regarding food quality, presentation, and cleanliness.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work rostered shifts as required.
