Gatto’s Café is a busy café located in Queenstown’s town centre, operating in a high-demand tourism environment with consistently high customer volumes.

The Role
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand to support our kitchen operations.

Due to the continuous high volume of customers, particularly during peak tourism seasons, this role is essential to assist with dishwashing, food preparation support, and maintaining cleanliness. Without this role, kitchen efficiency, service times, and food safety standards would be directly impacted.

The role supports the preparation and service of menu items including crepes, churros, desserts, and other café offerings.

This is an entry-level position and full on-the-job training will be provided. The role requires physical presence and cannot be automated, as it involves real-time support during service, including cleaning, food preparation assistance, and maintaining hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with food preparation and basic kitchen tasks
• Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas
• Dishwashing and maintaining hygiene standards
• Supporting kitchen staff during busy service periods
• Receiving and storing stock deliveries
• Ensuring compliance with food safety standards
• Keeping the kitchen clean and organised at all times

Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
• Reliable and punctual
• Willingness to work rostered shifts including weekends
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team
• Previous experience is an advantage but not required

What We Offer

• Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed
• Hourly rate of $25.00 (above minimum wage)
