We are looking for ONE experienced and motivated Motel Manager to lead our daily operations at Apartments 118, a modern and architecturally designed accommodation provider located in St Albans, Christchurch.

This is a full-time and permanent position.
We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week.
You will need to work according to the roster, including weekends and public holidays, so availability during these times is essential.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing daily front office operations, including reservations, check-ins, check-outs, guest inquiries, and after-hours phone or email communication

  • Overseeing housekeeping teams and room presentation standards, ensuring all studios and 2-bedroom apartments are cleaned, maintained, and guest-ready to a high standard

  • Supervising property maintenance, including off-street parking areas, gardens, exterior lighting, and common areas

  • Coordinating long-term stay arrangements and responding to enquiries about discounted weekly or monthly rates

  • Managing purchasing and stock control of guest supplies, including the premium botanical skincare range (Kawakawa & Kowhai products) and other in-room amenities

  • Maintaining financial records, processing direct bookings, reconciling online travel agency (OTA) bookings, and monitoring budgets

  • Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and emergency procedures, including fire safety, hazard registers, and guest wellbeing

  • Promoting the property’s direct booking offer (“Book directly with us to get the best possible price”) and supporting marketing efforts

  • Providing guests with local Christchurch tourism information, including recommendations for attractions, restaurants, and activities, and arranging transport or tours as requested

  • Monitoring guest satisfaction on booking platforms and in person, responding to feedback to maintain positive reviews

  • Supporting the property’s partnership with Forest & Bird by ensuring guests understand the conservation contribution and sustainable product use

Requirements:

  • At least three years of relevant experience in motel or hotel management, or a relevant Level 4 Qualification is preferred

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and provide reference checks from previous employers
