About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to oversee the full operations of our motel business. This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing day-to-day operations, driving revenue growth, and implementing strategic initiatives across the company’s accommodation business.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the overall operations of the company’s motel business, including front office, guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and administration;
· Develop and implement business plans, operational policies, budgets, and long-term growth strategies;
· Monitor occupancy, pricing, revenue, and distribution channels to maximise profitability;
· Oversee staffing strategy, including recruitment, performance management, and workforce planning;
· Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, health & safety, and employment obligations in New Zealand;
· Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including travel agencies, online booking platforms, suppliers, and corporate partners;
· Prepare reports, budgets, forecasts, and business recommendations for the Director;
· Lead marketing and business development initiatives to increase bookings and strengthen market position;
· Identify and implement opportunities for business growth, expansion, and operational improvement.
Position Details
· Employment Type: Permanent
· Hours: Minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week (rostered across Monday to Sunday)
· Reporting to: Director
Remuneration
• A gross annual salary in the range of NZD 150,000 to NZD 200,000, depending on the successful applicant’s skills and experience.
Preferred Candidate Profile
• At least 5 years’ senior management experience in the hospitality industry; motel or hotel experience preferred.
• A qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field would be an advantage, but is not essential.
• Strong knowledge of hotel operations, financial management, and human resource management.
• Proven ability to lead teams and improve business performance.
• Strong commercial skills, including marketing and business development experience.
• Ability to build and maintain partnerships with travel agencies, online platforms, and other business channels.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Multilingual ability is an advantage.
