Job Description:
Rice Canteen, a busy and well-established restaurant in Napier, is seeking a skilled Chinese Cuisine Cook to join our team. The role involves preparing and cooking authentic Chinese dishes in a commercial kitchen environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes to a high standard
  • Perform preparatory tasks, including cleaning, Chopping, marinating and mixing ingredients.
  • Operate kitchen equipment, including woks, steamers, rice cookers, and deep fryers.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion size throughout preparation and services.
  • Maintain kitchen hygiene and comply with food safety regulations.
  • Conduct stocktakes and assist in ordering ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in Chinese cuisine cooking
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients
  • Knowledge of food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures
  • Must be able to work well as part of team
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain personal and workplace cleanliness and hygiene
