The Bar Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of licensed premises operated by Babbu Hospitality NZ Limited. This role ensures compliance with New Zealand alcohol legislation, manages staff, establishes operational standards, and delivers a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment for patrons.
- Manage daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Supervise and lead staff to ensure efficient and professional service during trading hours
- Prepare and manage staff rosters in line with operational requirements
- Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, health and safety regulations, and all relevant legislation
- Monitor patron behaviour and enforce host responsibility practices
- Operate and manage TAB services, including customer support and cash handling
- Oversee gaming machine operations in accordance with venue policies and regulatory requirements
- Handle cash management, including daily banking, reconciliation, and maintaining accurate financial records
- Operate POS systems and report discrepancies where necessary
- Manage stock levels, including ordering, supplier coordination, and inventory records
- Maintain high standards of customer service at all times
- Ensure all health and safety requirements are consistently met
- Determine service standards and establish store policies
- Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies
- Set pricing in line with business objectives and market conditions
- Develop and manage the bar’s budget, including cost control and financial planning
Requirement
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and perform well under pressure
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required
