Café Cook – Full-Time | Auckland
Pay rate: $25–$30 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week
We are looking for reliable and committed individual to join our team as Café Cooks at our Wyndham location in Auckland. This is a permanent full‑time role with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

- You must be available to work on a roster, including weekends.
- Our café operates 7 days a week, from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Early starts are required — staff must arrive before opening for preparation.
- Staff must also stay after closing for cleaning and pack‑down.
- Weekend public transport is limited; you must have your own transport, as buses and trains do not operate early enough.
- Parking is not provided — staff must pay for their own parking if required.
Main Responsibilities
- Complete daily food preparation to meet quality and presentation standards.
- Estimate daily production needs and check the quality of raw and cooked food.
- Prepare and cook food, including seasoning, portioning, plating, and garnishing.
- Prepare food for special dietary requirements when needed.
- Maintain full knowledge of recipes, menu items, and production methods.
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and check expiry dates regularly.
- Manage stock levels, assist with cost control, and handle ordering of supplies.
- Apply strong understanding of food hygiene, food safety, and health & safety practices.
- Perform basic baking for cabinet food items.
- Keep the kitchen clean, tidy, and compliant with all regulations.
- Operate and clean kitchen equipment, including ovens, deep fryers, and big dippers.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks as required.
- Perform unscheduled cleaning tasks as instructed by management.
- Train and support other kitchen staff or apprentices when required.
- Meet all deadlines and ensure consistent quality in all food produced.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or a Level 4+ culinary qualification.
- Ability to work early mornings, long shifts, and weekends.
- Reliable transport due to early start times and limited weekend public transport.
- Willingness to undergo ongoing training and follow all operational procedures.
