Location: Waihi
Hours: Full-Time (minimum 30 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $27 - 29.50 per hour

Banana Pepper Café, operated by GOLDENFIVE LTD, is a busy and well-established hospitality venue in Waihi, known for its welcoming atmosphere and quality food, beverage, and catering services. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead our team and oversee day-to-day operations.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone who can manage staff, maintain service standards, and support the continued growth of the business.
 
The Role
 
As the Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth functioning across catering, deliveries and food services. You will work closely with the Director and lead a small team to deliver consistent service and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
• Preparing duty rosters for cafe staff
• Managing staff issues and workplace matters, including health and safety
• Collaborate with chef/cook to plan the menu
• Organising parties/special function
• Maintaining service standards across all operations
• Assisting with advertising and promotion of the business
• Ordering stock and ensuring sufficient supply levels at all times
• Liaising with suppliers and negotiating pricing and terms
• Handling customer complaints and feedback professionally
• Preparing and maintaining financial records and balance accounts, Preparing reports on spending and budgets, Reporting financial data to the Director
• Hiring, training, managing and firing the staff as required
• Ensuring the premises comply with health and safety requirements
• Carrying out daily banking and financial transactions
• Interacting with customers to maintain a high level of satisfaction
• Balancing tills and summarizing daily sales at the end of each shift
• Enforcing workplace policies during shifts
• Assisting in growing cafe operations through implementation of operational plans
Hours of Work & Wages
• Full-time, permanent position
• Minimum 30 hours per week
• Wages: NZD $27 to 29.50 per hour
Requirements:
• Tertiary Level Business qualification or at least 2 years customer service experience
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Good communication and customer service abilities
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure, flexibility to assist catering orders and group breakfasts if needed usually around 3am.
