Job Summary: The Ottoman Ashburton is a family‑owned and operated kebab shop

serving delicious and authentic Turkish cuisine made from fresh, halal‑certified

ingredients. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, welcoming environment for both

our customers and our staff.

We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand to support our

kitchen operations. This role is focused on assisting kitchen staff with basic food

preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly during

service. It is well suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy hospitality

environment and is happy to support the team behind the scenes.

Job title: Kitchenhand

Vacancies: One (1) Permanent Full-time

Location: The Ottoman, 5 Cass Street, Ashburton 7700.

Hours: minimum 30 hours guaranteed, up to 45 hours per week | Monday to Sunday

(rostered)

Pay rate: $24-$28 (depending on experience)

Minimum qualifications/experience: None

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Assisting cooks with basic food preparation

 Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment

 Cleaning kitchen benches, floors, and equipment

 Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with food safety

standards

 Unpacking, storing, and rotating stock as directed

 Removing rubbish and keeping work areas tidy

 Assisting with packing food and preparing ingredients when required

 Performing other general kitchen support duties as directed from time to time

Other requirements Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

 Ability to work weekends and public holidays

 Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods

 Ability to work well as part of a team

 Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is preferred but not essential

 Well organised, reliable, and passionate about food and hospitality

 Willingness to learn and follow instructions
