​​Job description

  • Inspect food items to maintain quality standards
  • Adjust temperature settings for ovens, grills and other cooking appliances
  • Undertake food preparation and cooking work
  • Add seasonings to food throughout the cooking process
  • Divide food into standard portions, arrange on plates, and top with gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • Store food items in temperature-controlled storage areas
  • Prepare meals in line with special dietary needs and restrictions
  • May develop menus and calculate required food stock quantities
  • May provide training to other kitchen personnel and apprentices
  • Prepare, season and cook meals for dining or catering premises
  • Carry out other reasonable work duties assigned by the employer

More details about the position

  • Location: Auckland
  • Job type: Full-time Permanent
  • Pay rate: 25.00- 29.00 New Zealand dollars per hour
  • Days required: 5–6 days per week (rotational roster arrangements apply)
  • Hours per week: At least 35

Job Requirement

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, or a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent overseas qualification), or a Bachelor degree in any discipline is required.
